I organize free events for the Greater Philadelphia Thinking Society (https://www.meetup.com/thinkingsociety/), Math Counts (https://www.meetup.com/MathCounts/), and the Philadelphia Linux User’s Group (https://www.meetup.com/Philadelphia-Linux-User-Group-Meetup/).
Since COVID all of the events for these groups that I organize have moved to Jitsi Meet.
I’m having trouble with Thinking Society events where we have non-technical users and lots of platforms/browsers. We organize small groups 10-15 participants. But I’d like a dynamic conversation where body language is accessible to everyone (so all video feeds should be always on) and interjections should be possible (so all audio should be always on). But we have multiple users with multiple problems. The biggest problems are audio quality and video causing load spikes.
Since Jitsi appears to be the best free and open source video conferencing platform, my effort is best focused on helping Jitsi improve the quality of its software to meet my Thinking Society group’s needs.
