This is not a full guide, but I hope it helps people until I take the time to make a proper guide for people who want to run Jitsi Meet on their own computer and have the wonderful excalidraw working!
Software used:
Windows 10
Virtualbox 7.0.4
PuTTY
debian-11.6.0-amd64-netinst.iso
You need 2 DDNS IPs for this to work and you can get 2 of them free at www.freemyip.com
Also, you need the correct ports open for the Jitsi install to work. Here’s the ports I have open for it in my DD-WRT router: (I probably opened way more than I need but whatever)
TCP:
80
443
3002
4443
4444
5349
5222
9090
9091
UDP:
3478
10000
Also, make sure at 10:30 in my video that your repository looks like that. A problem I was having with the install is that debian had selected the DVD as a source and it was missing other ones so my install would fail.
If you see a DVD repository in there such as deb [trusted=yes] cdrom:[Debian GNU/Linux 11.5.0 _Bullseye_ - Official amd64 DVD Binary-1 20220910-10:40]/ bullseye contrib main
I would comment it out by adding a pound sign in the front like this #deb [trusted=yes] cdrom:[Debian GNU/Linux 11.5.0 _Bullseye_ - Official amd64 DVD Binary-1 20220910-10:40]/ bullseye contrib main
Special thanks to @emrah emrah for his wonderful script that does the majority of the work to get recording and streaming working out of the box! Very helpful for newbies like me.
