Using Jitsi Meet without Google STUN server

Hi,

My project requires a complete self-hosted service without any connections to Google or any other third-party services. I read that the standard installation is using Google’s STUN server. That’s why I commented out the STUN servers like this:

    p2p: {
        // Enables peer to peer mode. When enabled the system will try to
        // establish a direct connection when there are exactly 2 participants
        // in the room. If that succeeds the conference will stop sending data
        // through the JVB and use the peer to peer connection instead. When a
        // 3rd participant joins the conference will be moved back to the JVB
        // connection.
        enabled: true,

        // Use XEP-0215 to fetch STUN and TURN servers.
        useStunTurn: false,

        // The STUN servers that will be used in the peer to peer connections
        stunServers: [

            // { urls: 'stun:meet.jitsi:3478' },
            // { urls: 'stun:meet-jit-si-turnrelay.jitsi.net:443' }
        ]
...

Is it safe that I am not using any third-party service now? How can I determine if a STUN server is used and which one it is?

Is it even possible to run Jitsi without any STUN server?

Thank you,
Jonas

huh ? is jitsi.net part of Google now ?

If you don’t have any STUN servers p2p will work when both participants are in the same physical network, otherwise they will use jvb for p2p calls.
