Oh yes - it is. So the next shapshot will have this name too? Cool.
Waited for a it some time, hesitated to write articles It has always been hard to tell folks that SIP-Communicator is actually good for IM or even Jingle.
Anyway. I've just posted an article to the German wiki.ubuntuusers.de about SC. I might consider refactoring to reflect the name change.
So - at FOSSDEM you act as Jitsi yet?!? Can I tell the folks that you're going to release there?
Greetings
Conrad

Given the new list address (dev@jitsi.java.net), is it no longer "SC"
and now "Jitsi"?

Not quite. The migration isn't over yet so we are still holding on. So
far the plan is to make the official announcement on FOSDEM and then
change right after.

Nope. Not for long though.

Excellent! Spreading the word is always welcome.

We'll be making the official announcement on FOSDEM and the actual name
change will come right after. Our FOSDEM stand and presentations would
be under the name of SIP Communicator though. We didn't want to confuse
folks right before the event.

This will be the big 1.0 event won't it. Have you any plans to do something when this day arrives?
Remembering the old days: When Gnomemeeting became 1.0 after a rather long adolescence in beta-land, they had a virtual release party which was fun. ("virtual beer") Gosh - that may be 10 years ago - I can write "10 years of VoIP experience in my cv without being ashamed )
Anyway. They had an MCU, so we could come together on video over the Net which was very impressing these days. This was all steam H323 by then. Technology has advanced.
So my idea: let's put up a jabber chat room somewhere and announce it in the usual Linux and shareware fora (dont forget the Windows folks )
Probably one can talk people into joining and to install and try SC/Jits铆.
What do you think?
I might help configuring, writing web site articles, spreading the word etc.
