[sip-comm] Starting sip communicator cvs version

#1

Hi,

I'd like to take a look at sip communicator. I've downloaded the CVS version of sip and built it using Ant.

I'm not too familiar with Ant, so I'm not sure how to start it!

I've tried 'ant' followed by 'ant test' which produces a lot of console output, but no GUI.

I've also tried bringing the project into eclipse, but that gives an error when launching:

Oscar: Error starting file:sc-bundles/media.jar (org.osgi.framework.BundleException: Unresolved package: javax.sound.sampled)
org.osgi.framework.BundleException

I'd really like to take a look, and also help in the future, but could do with a few lines of advice/pointer as to how to get going.

Thanks,

Alex Hutton

You shouldn't expect to run the SIP Comminucator 1.0 with a GUI, at
least not for the moment. Currently the upcoming 1.0 version is unusable
and only has sense for developers that want to sneak into the code.
The ant "test" target you've tried runs all JUnit tests.

I've also tried bringing the project into eclipse, but that gives an error when launching:

Oscar: Error starting file:sc-bundles/media.jar (org.osgi.framework.BundleException: Unresolved package: javax.sound.sampled)
org.osgi.framework.BundleException

This error is caused by an unresolved package. Try adding the sound.jar
archive located in the lib/jmf-win to your CLASSPATH whithin Eclipse.
Have you tried with the eclipse project file contained in the
ide/eclipse directory? If this still doesn't work, could you file a bug
report following the instructions provided at
http://sip-communicator.org/index.php/Development/BugsAndIssues?

I'd really like to take a look, and also help in the future, but could do with a few lines of advice/pointer as to how to get going.

The Get Involved page on the new website is a good starting point:

Welcome to the dev community of SIP Communicator
