[sip-comm] Setting up peered communication over IPv6

#1

I am trying to get SIP communicator to work directly between 2 clients. Both IPv6.

I have fiddled around a little and guess I don't know at all how to set it up.

How do I clean out my, probably feable attempts, at setting up SIP communicator?

How do I make a call to a client. The client is registered in DNS with a AAAA record.

In fact both parties have registered AAAA records.

I see that there is no real documentation, and nothing to tell me how to set up a basic connection to a SIP-Communicator running on a particular FQDN.

I have found ~./sip-communicator and know if I delete this, I start clean.

A few pointers would be appreciated!

The easiest way is to make sure that both clients have RegistrarLess
accounts. You create such serverless SIP accoutns almost the same way as
normal ones: You use the new account wizard, you select the SIP
protocol, you enter a user name that has no server part (i.e. john and
not john@voip.net) and you don't touch any other fields.

From that point on the account would handle all incoming SIP requests

arriving for "john@one-of-your-ip-addresses-or-host-fqdns". It would
also send requests directly, rather than using a proxy, when you select
it in the "Call via" combo box.

I have found ~./sip-communicator and know if I delete this, I start clean.

Yes, that's the way.

A few pointers would be appreciated!

Hope this helps then. Oh, and let me know if you feel like entering a
FAQ entry on this in our wiki, so that I could create an account for you.

Cheers
Emil
