[sip-comm] No audio

#1

After updating to build 2017, I finally got sip-communicator to
connector to account on sipphone.com

However, I am not getting any audio (neither mic nor speaker). I have
tried using both the built in Crystal Fusion C46xx and a Griffen iMic
USB audio adaptor.

I have tried severalof the service listed on the sipphone website,
including the welcome service, 1-747-474-5000, and the echo service,
1-747-474-3246. These are listed on http://www.sipphone.com/numbers/

I have both ALSA and OSS installed and working. I verified correct
sound operation using Audacity.

I have tried changing the order of the devices to force which one is
the main audio I/O. This did not make any difference.

Any ideas?

Appears that I need to use STUN to get through my NAT router. Appears
that Sip-Comm does not support STUN.

Hello Ron, S A,

Using SIP Communicator I have just registered on sipphone.com, made an
echo call, heard the generated voice message and then my local audio
echoed back to me. In other words everything seemed to be working properly.

Appears that I need to use STUN to get through my NAT router. Appears
that Sip-Comm does not support STUN.

I don't think this is the case because my previous call was made without
using STUN. SIP Communicator does support STUN although it is
intentionally disabled by default simply because it creates more
problems than it resolves. This has already discussed on our mailing
lists so I am not going to get into the details again. The jist however
is that most providers (including sipphone.com) provide media relaying
when they detect a NAT. Use of STUN would prevent them from detecting a
NAT device and calls would fail in the case of NATs doing endpoint
dependent mapping (a.k.a symmetric).

I understand your frustration S A and I am sorry you are having a hard
time using SIP Communicator. You should however keep in mind that most
people contributing to SIP Communicator and answering questions like
yours are doing so on a voluntary basis and out of their free time. It
may therefore happen that some questions would take time before they get
an answer. In most cases however they do get one sooner or later. Angry
ranting and unpleasant comments are therefore not helping things a lot

Now, concerning your problems. It would really help having your log
files guys (in your user home and a) AppData/SIP Communicator/log on win
b) ~/.sip-communicator/log on linux and c) Library/Application
Settings/log on macs) and if possible wireshark dumps in order to help
determine what exactly is going on.

Cheers,
Emil
