[sip-comm] New to sip communicator and already two wishes

#1

Hi Folks,

Yesterday I installed sip communicator, because it looks like it finally relieves me from having to run a chat client and a softphone at the same time. The app looks very nice and so far seems to do what I expect

I have two feature requests concerning the softphone app. A quick search of the issue tracker didn't yield a result, so I post them here:

1) Allow SC to ring using PC speaker or a second sound device

路路路

-------------------------------------------------------------
Reason: I have plugged in a USB headset and ringtones sent to the default audio device are only audible when I wear the headset. When I'm out of the room, I won't hear the phone ring. Which leads me immediately to my second request.

2) Indicate missed calls
------------------------
For example via a change in the status icon (color, shape, ...) or an option to leave the "incoming call" alert open permanently. Same reason: Out of room -> don't hear phone ring -> come back -> notification alert has already disappeared.
I have to actively check the call history to find out that someone has called me and might expect me to call him back.

Cheers

Excellent! Happy to hear this!

This is actually previewed as part of issue #700

https://sip-communicator.dev.java.net/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=700

We hope to be able to resolve it in the autumn. Using separate devices
for ringing (event notification) and communication was an implicit part
of the issue but it would probably be a good idea to add a comment there
that explicitly specifies it. Just in case ... so that we don't miss it
for some reason. Could you please take care of this?

2) Indicate missed calls ------------------------ For example via a

You are right. Could you please add an issue for this and schedule it
for 1.1?

Thanks
Emil

Hi Emil,

Thanks for your reply, I probably need an account at java.net to add comments or file a new issue?

You do indeed, and you also need the Obsever role in the
sip-communicator project (granted automatically upon request).
