[sip-comm] Logitech QuickCam Orbit AF

#1

Hello,

I tried today's nightly build. I can only see „No Device“ in video settings, although my webcam is connected and working. Ekiga, kopete, skype, linphone and guvcview can use the camera with no problem at all.

Kernel: 2.6.28.6
Driver: uvcvideo
Device: 046d:0994 Logitech, Inc. QuickCam Orbit/Sphere AF
Java:
  java version "1.6.0_0"
  IcedTea6 1.4 Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_0-b14)
OpenJDK Client VM (build 11.0-b17, mixed mode)

I'm sending the output of the program as attachment.

Regards,

Andrej Podzimek

My distro is ArchLinux. (However, I use a vanilla kernel, not the distro package.)

I used this installer: http://download.sip-communicator.org/nightly/generic/sip-communicator-1.0-alpha3-nightly.build.1708.jar

Hey Andrej

Try building and running it from sources. The generic jar installer is
supposed to be ... generic  so it doesn't include the natives.

On a side note, we should probably start building arch linux packages at
some point.

Any volunteers?

Hi,

the generic one is a installer which includes only the OS independent code. Because capture support is OS dependent
thats the reason it doesn't work. You can try the linux bin installer. I will test is myself today cause its been a while since
I last tested and there can be some issues cause we recently changed the video support.

Tried today's build, both using the Linux binary installer and the source code. The webcam is detected (civil:/dev/video0:0), but no preview is shown. Just a black rectangle. The webcam is not accessible to other applications while sip-communicator is running, so it probably opens the device node, but data processing fails for some reason.

Hi,

yes the missing preview is a known issue and we are working on it.
Even preview is not available in the configuration form video calls must be ok.
