[sip-comm] how to enter SIP account?

#1

I would like to use a sip account with the sip-communicator. The problem I have is that my SIP account (that already works in other softphones) has this configuration settings:

-SIP Server
-SIP user
-SIP password

I wonder how to enter this info in sip-communicator so that it works, because when trying to create a new sip account, it just asks me a username and a password, but that is not enough for my existing account to work (I also need to enter my SIP server).

I would like to know how can I enter my info.

But I also want to know what should I do to enter a valid sip account, or how can I get a valid info account.

Thanks a lot.

Either check the advanced options or use following syntax:

user@server

I'm getting crazy to make this works, I don't get it, but my SIP info does work in other softphones. I wonder if someone could help me.

Anyway I know how to get a MSN account for instance, I just need to go to 'hotmail' and get a free account. But how can I manage to get a free SIP account? where can I get it? I ask this to see if I'm doing wrong.

    Thanks a lot.

Thnks, but doesn't solve the problem. It gives me an error message like this:
"Connection failed for the following account: User name: XXXXXXXXX, Server name: <the server domain that I enter>."

But don't I need to enter a STUNT server? I know I don't need a proxy.

Thanks.

There are a number of free SIP registrars out there. iptel.org and
ekiga.net are two that come to mind but there are many others too.

Hope this helps
