[sip-comm] Failed to parse sdp...

#1

Hi

I am using ubuntu 8.04 (java6). I have recently made a fresh installation of ubuntu and hence SIP-communicator (1.0-alpha3-build-1201) . I have started to get 'failed to parse sd..." error whenever i dial any number through SIP account. I am using voipuser.org for SIP.

Could anybody suggest me what's wrong?

Sandeep

Hi,
I can confirm this on roughly the same setup (Ubuntu 8.04, java6). I
experienced this bug in earlier revisions, then after update it was not
present. From then on I was using version that is using FMJ and this bug is
not present there. I tried running version with JMF now and it gives this
error message again. I will try to investigate this if I will have time
available. On my laptop I have old revision (3630) that is working using
JMF. I will try to diff it to see what might be causing this.

Here is the stack trace of what seems to be causing it:

Hey guys,

A note to let you know that I've just committed a quick hack based on a
tip received from Ken Larson (and reminded to me by Martin). So you may
want to give calls another try.

Cheers

from the french ISP Free and I can confirm that with your commit it's
gone

Hi,

I have tested this quick hack today, and here my results:

The calls that failed before on Ubuntu 8.04 are now successful (the
input device can be opened), the sound quality is OK (not the best, but
the other person understands what the SC user is saying)

It also (still) works on my older Ubuntu version (6.10), but there the
sound quality is now really bad. Before it was quiet OK, but now it is
really hard to understand the SC caller, as parts of the voice stream
are missing.

Hello
I Tryed the latest build and i tis not solved yet.

Basicly I can just make 50 calls, because the retrys count is 100, and the ports are incremented by two in each call, one for data and one for control.

The problem is that the ports are not released for reuse...

Hás anyone faced this problem? Or is it me?

Carlos

Hello,

I am running SC agains a Asterisk Server.

One problem I am facing with the latests builds of SC is that it doesnt
detect that the remote party has hungup.

I am placing calls between SC and analog phones, with Asterisk in the
midle.

This feature was working perfectly until recente builds of SC.

Is this a configuration problem of SC?

Thanks
Carlos

Hey Carlos,

I just tried this with build 1339 (r4443). This was indeed a problem
yesterday but I've made 10 SIP calls and every time my media was leaving
from port 5000.

In other words the Damian's patch seems to have fixed the issue.

Are you sure you were using the latest build?

Cheers
Emil

Carlos

Hi,

I'm currently developing an application that now needs to be enhanced by
a SIP based VoIP solution. Since the other project has been written in
Java I was wondering if it could be possible to integrate your fine
application. I only need the backend functionality as I already have a
gui. Is there a way to get parts of SIP communicator (e.g. SIP calls,
SIMPLE and JABBER Messaging) running without using the felix framework?

I had a brief look at the sources and noticed that some of the
initialisation of the packages is Felix-specific.

Thanks a lot.

Thomas

Hey Carlos,

This is not necessarily a problem. It simply indicates that the 5000 or
5001 ports were already in use by ourselves or another application and
that we are going to try with another one.

Does your call fail after this? If yes, then sending the complete logs
and (if not too much trouble) the corresnponding wireshark dump would help.

You can also send them directly to me if you are uncomfortable with
sharing them on the contact list.

Cheers
Emil
