[sip-comm-dev] Who is responsable for the german translation?

#1

OK *,

the geran translation has man errors and some strings are not even
translated. Who is responsable for the german translation?

If there is no one, please can you send me the latest PO file and I will
correct it.

Thanks, Greetings and nice Day/Evening

Hello Michelle,

I extracted the latest german translation into a PO file. We'd be happy if you could contribute new strings and corrections. The original translator was Thomas Hofer.

Hopefully, we will soon have a *much* better system to handle the translations.

Cheers,
Martin

Hello Martin,

Hello Michelle,

I extracted the latest german translation into a PO file. We'd be
happy if you could contribute new strings and corrections. The
original translator was Thomas Hofer.

Now we have weekend and I will try to complete the file as fast as
possibel...

Hopefully, we will soon have a *much* better system to handle the
translations.

WHY not use "pootle" (PO Online Translation Tool)?

    <http://translate.sourceforge.net/wiki>

I use it for my website and own programs too and translators can
subscribe and translate directly ONLINE from a Web-Browser...

You have only to build some scripts which pickup the translated files
and put it back into the CVS or whatever you use.

I very recommend ths tool. You have only to install a new VHost on e.g.

    http://pootle.dev.java.net/>

and it can handel ANY projects hostetd on <dev.java.net> and not only
SIP-Communicator. Please speak with the admins about it.

Greetings and nice Weekend

Hello Martin,

I have found some errors in the "english" original Message-Ids like:

#: service.gui.CHANGE_ROOM_SUBJECT_LABEL
msgid "In he field below, you can enter the new subject for this room."

it should be:

msgid "In the field below, you can enter the new subject for this room."

so, mostly spelling errors.

I think, if you extract the Strings into the POT file, a very good
english reader should do a proofreading before it will be merged with
the PO files.

I asume, the file is from "1.0-alpha-nightly.build.2332" so I can compie
it my own and check the german translation.

Attached a screenshouot of a Window which is in the upper part to small
and show only the half button.

Thanks, Greetings and nice Day/Evening

Hello Martin,

I have alredy started checking/Translating (I am on line 2193) but found
many errors in the original english text.

Do you use GNU gettext to extract the strings?

If yes, can you use the option to unify the msgid's please? There are
some msgid's more then one time in the file which give errors on my
syste and I can not compile the file to MO.

I have attached a first version of the resources_de.po.

Maybe you could put it alredy in the nightly-build for testing please.

Hi again,

Hello Martin,

I have alredy started checking/Translating (I am on line 2193) but found
many errors in the original english text.

Do you use GNU gettext to extract the strings?

We're actually using java .properties files (see resources/languages/*.properties for our translation files). I used the translate toolkit prop2po command to produce the German PO.

You need to register for a java.net user name and then login before
being able to submit an issue.

Cheers,
