[sip-comm-dev] What is the patents' risk while using sip-communication?

#1

Hi, all,
Recently, I read a news about the patents' risk for VOIP applications, which
said that Rates Technology Inc claimed the rights for three patents
4888822, 5425085 and 5519769, and demand VOIP providers like GOOGLE to
pay for the rolaty.
So, I wonder if the situation of sip-communication is similiar.
And has anybody ever analyzed and summarized the relative patents with
sip-communication?

If you look at the patents on www.freepatentsonline.com then you might discover that the sip-communicator is a sip client, it doesn't cost calls, routes calls to a specified port of entry (no least cost routing) and doesn't contain a database with any flavour of call costs.
