[sip-comm-dev] voip encryption

#1

Hi there,
i'm doing my master degree on VoIP encryption and for the practical
implementation and tests
i was thinking to use SIP-Communicator as i saw there was encryption
implemented.
Please tell me if actually there is some encryption implemented or there are
other reasons
why i could not implement encryption over the voice data.
thanks and any help would be very helpfull

I tried to run the older version of SIP Comm under Mac OS X and I had
some unresolved problems with audio devices. Probably related to the
fact that Sun nor Apple have provided an native implementation for JMF,
which SIP Comm uses.

But let us hear how it's running for you, especially if you try the
latest CVS version.

Hello Cristian,

There is no encryption in SIP Communicator, whatsoever and this is
a contribution that we'd be most happy accept.

I am not sure how you should do it with the current version of JMF. It
may turn out to be tricky.

There is currently no support for media in sip-communicator-1.0 but you
don't really need it as all your modifications would only be touching
the media part and hence you only need JMF for starters. I hope that
until you're ready we'll be ready too.

Good luck!
Emil
