[sip-comm-dev] Using video datasource for a preview

#1

Hi,

I think it is quite comfortable to see ourself webcam video when we are on a
video call.

Currently looking for the best way to get it in sip communicator.

Any idea? Anyone who started the same thing?

Thought about a solution like the JMF sample :"video capture with
Monitoring"
ie a DataSource Wrapper that intercept the datasource.

Thought too of decoding locally the rtp stream sent to the callee.

Thanks for your advices.

Not that I know of.

Yes, I guess that simply poping an extra video window on a call would be a good way to start. Video windows are currently initialized in CallSessionImpl (in the net.java.sip.communicator.impl.media package) and you could start show your own either when the send streams are started.

Once you've familiarized yourself with the code you've got this running, we could think of the best way of doing it so that it is actually usable.

Let us know if you have any further questions and good luck!

Cheers
Emil
