I would like to draw your attention to a problem with password lengths of ICQ accounts.
If the password of an ICQ account is longer than 8 symbols and you try to logon with that account,
the program refuses to log you on and responds with a popup message, saying
"Authentication failed. The password you entered is not valid." I've attached the output of ant as
a text file to this mail.
I've played some more and have discovered that if you just cut the password to the 8-th symbol
(inclusively) sip-communicator succeeds. What I suggest is that other ICQ clients truncate the
passwords to 8 symbols, however I'm not 100% sure - this needs to be checked. Maybe we should do
P.S.: I've filed a bug with Issue #: 226
sip_ICQ_unable_to_logon.txt (26.2 KB)
