[sip-comm-dev] Twitter Support in SC

#1

Hi all,

I have been working on embedding Twitter Support in SIP Communicator for a
while and have some issues to be resolved.

First of all the application I have been developing is not through any
Instant Messenger, that is it does not involve the use of any bots etc. the
connection initiated is directly with http://www.twitter.com.
The twitteraccregwizz is developed on the lines of all the other account
registration wizards for registration process, still developing the Sign In
procedures.

One of the confusion I want to clear out is that, can the existing open
source java apis for Twitter (available at
http://apiwiki.twitter.com/Libraries#Javanbsp) be used for the cause?

Another thing is that for developing the GUI for the same, I have been
planning for a TwitterWindow which contains different Containers each having
the images, text and buttons(reply and retweet) for each tweet, is there any
similar implementation of the same in the trunk? if not can you please guide
for the GUI development.

Suggestions are always welcomed with open hands :).

Thanks

I am not sure I understand the question. Most of the protocols in SIP
Communicator use third party libraries so there's no reason why Twitter
should be different. License-wise they all seem ok (except for the first
one, as I couldn't understand what license it was distributed under).

If what you wanted to know is whether the libraries can connect to
twitter and support features of interest to you, then you'd need to
check this out with the corresponding lib maintainers.

Another thing is that for developing the GUI for the same, I have been

Protocol implementation in SIP Communicator do not involve GUI. You
simply develop a ProtocolProvider and make it behave as the others. You
can return contacts through the presence op set, and show tweets as
instant messages for example.

Hope this helps,
Emil
