[sip-comm-dev] skin support on SIP Communicator

#1

Hi all,

I would like to know that if there are any skin themes ready for SIP
Communicator. I am currently trying to use a skin pack prepared as demo
(found it on the mailing list on the net, named as demo.zip), but it didn't
work. Is there any updates to the skin pack content? Could some body share a
skin theme for the communicator?

Thanks&Regards,
Sercan Sadi

Hi Sercan,

The demo.zip was made only for testing purposes, so it's not a "real" skin. However normally it should work. I'm attaching here the version of demo.zip that you should use (in case you were using the wrong version). In order to apply the demo skin you should go to Options (or Preferences if you're on Mac), then Advanced, then Skins. Click on the combo box and choose "Add new skin...". I've just tried it and it worked for me. Again, note that demo.zip is not a real skin, but you could use it as a base to make your own skin.

This feature is quite new, so we didn't yet have the time to develop some skins or make a tutorial for it, but any contribution on the subject is more than welcome!

Cheers,
Yana

Hi Yana,

Thanks for the demo.zip file. However, I tried on my version of communicator
and it did not work again. It seems to be adding a new plugin on the
plugins' list with name "unknown" but no new skin name is displayed in the
skins combo box after selecting "Add new skin..." option. Could you please
tell me your version of communicator, so i'll try again with the latest
working version.

My version of communicator is: *1.0-alpha6-nightly.build.3023*

Thanks again,
Sercan

Hi Emil,

Now I tried with following version ( 1.0-alpha6-nightly.build.3126) but the
very same problem seemed to be existing. When I try to add a new skin, only
a plugin with name "unknown" is placed under the plugins' list with no
change on the skin theme.

It seems there is no info about the skin change operations in the SIP
Communicator logs too.

Dear All,
I am confirming very similar/identical behaviour by trying to add new skin (demo.zip used from Yana´s
email). Only new plugin appears ("unknown")

version SC nb-3128 (Windows, WinXP-SP3-german, Java 6.022)

kind regards, MS

Hi all,

Any updates on the issue? I'm trying to debug the issue but couldn't find
the root cause yet. A new bundle seems to be plugged in but no difference
detected in the SIP Communicator GUI.

Thanks&Regards,
Sercan
