[sip-comm-dev] Sip Communicator UI show issue on WinXP (Chinese)

#1

Hi,
While I successfully built/run Sipcommunicator 3611, I found the UI can not
show the right words, my computer is installed WinXP(Simplified Chinese), I
am supprised at such result.
Did anybody meet such similiar issue? and what is the possible rootcause, I
will try to download alpha2 nightly build installer, hopefully it will be
fine.

I attach the picture, FYI.

Looks like some missing fonts (chinese characters) on the Java VM
right? not sure how to solve that though

Hi Wang, Ernesto!

It's not neccessarily a missing font. SIP Communicator currently sets a
default font on Windows which doesn't support Chinese characters. I'm afraid
there is currently no workaround which doesn't involve changing the source
code and compile SIP Communicator yourself.

There is some discussion of the problem here:

I've also just created an issue so this problem can be tracked:

However, I download the Alpha2, it does show the correct Chinese font, so
looks like it is not hard to modify the code.
If somebody can tell me which source file is the one I can check, then I can
do it.
Thanks.

Wanding Wang.

Do you build the release yourself or do you run it from eclipse? If so, you
should change the format of the language files to UTF8.
