[sip-comm-dev] Setting up SIP Communicator for test calls?

#1

First of all I suppose I should introduce myself as this is my first post to
the dev mailing list. Hello, I'm Ryan Ricard. I'm a student at the
University of Texas at Dallas working on the audio/video mailbox as part of
the summer of code. Glad to be working with y'all

Anyway, on to my question. I was trying to set up a test call today to see
If I have the proper idea of how Sip-Communicator handles incoming calls,
and I came upon a bit of a snag: My current internet setup here on campus
does not allow me a public IP address. Since I'm pretty sure port forwarding
is out of the question, is there any way to have SIP communicator
send/receive calls over the LAN or local machine?

Or, alternatively, what is the standard procedure for testing
incoming/outgoing calls?

Thanks in advance,
Ryan

Same here. Welcome to the list.

I'll start working on basic NAT traversal for SIP Communicator next week. However in order not to keep you waiting I guess it would be better for us to create a couple of accounts for you on our local asterisk installation (which handles NAT traversal).

We'll send you the details as soon as they're ready.

Cheers
Emil
