Tested between MacOSX and Linux, it works fine when using brackets.
The same problem appears when no brackets are used, but I guess people are
supposed to use brackets?

Yes, that's how it currently is. I agree it's not pretty and that we
could probably do better, so I had a look at the jain-sip parsers. It
won't be that difficult to code but it would need some testing and
unfortunately I don't have the time right now.

Do you feel this is important? If not then we could probably handle it
as a separate issue with a lower priority?

Cheers
Emil

No this is not really important, brackets are commonly used for IPv6 addresses.

I've closed this issue and opened a new one to handle the case without brackets. But the most important to me is that it works in one way or the other, so if you feel that supporting this case is not useful, we can remove this new issue.

I believe I've just resolved it (r5146). Turns out it wasn't that hard
after all. I've committed the modified jain-sip jars to our repository.
Could you please test and let me know if it works? If everything works
as expected, I'll also commit the changes against the jain-sip repos.

Cheers
Emil

It works like a charm! Thanks for taking care of this, I've closed this issue.
