r5004 makes a group expand/fold on a single-click, not only when clicking on the
arrow but on the whole cell.

I believe the intended behavior here was to make sure that single clicks
on any list element simply selects it. The only exception would be the
+/- sign. This is the default behavior for lists under Gnome, Mac OS X,
and Windows.

This makes sense since we're showing a hand cursor
and users expect single-click in this case.

The hand cursor is a vestige from our previous UI where contacts were
opened with a single click. It should go.

In that respect, the fact that we're
also showing a hand cursor on the metacontact cells and nothing happens when
they are single-clicked is also a bug.

It is indeed.

Cheers
Emil

I've just tested with Pidgin and Gajim, which both use the same kind of
contact group cell with arrow/plus button we have (captures attached). A
first mouse button single-click anywhere in the cell does expand/fold
it.

Fair point. Besides Adium and iChat appear to be doing the same. Very
well, guess we can keep it that way then. Want to have a look at the
hand issue?

Solved in r5014 with a regression: the "cross" cursor is not shown when
moving a subcontact. However, even with the "cross" cursor, this
functionality is broken IMHO as you have to simple-click to move the
subcontact to a contact group, double-click to move it to a metacontact
(inconsistency), and you don't even see what you're moving (which is
what a user expects when seing a cross cursor). The first time I tried
it, I couldn't figure out what I was expected to do (the dialog just
advises to "choose a contact").

A part of the solution could be to show the dragged subcontact just like
we already do with metacontacts.
