[sip-comm-dev] Question about JList

#1

Hello,

We have decided to change the combobox in our add account wizard by a
list (to see an example view the picture in the lasted Cedric's mail).

The JList is successfully implemented but we can't select an item,
they seem to be disabled.
We put our code in a test class, run it and here, we can select an item.

Is there something in SC who disables the JList elements ?

Our code is based on the example on this page :
http://www.cs.cf.ac.uk/Dave/HCI/HCI_Handout_CALLER/node144.html

Thanks in advance,

Damien, Cedric

One of the ways to run Felix itself is by calling the main() method of
org.apache.felix.main.Main. This gives you:

#java org.apache.felix.main.Main

I'll have a look on this page (as I'm currently making an installer) and
update it on the necessary sections.

Hi Damien,

there's nothing in SIP Communicator that would disable your list. If you send the code, where you create your list, I could have a look.

Cheers,
Yana

Hi! I'm just trying to create an installer (windows). I found the build.xml
in the resources/install directory with the target
build-installation-windows.

But in my case (eclipse 3.3) this file contains errors:
The target "version" is not defined and so I cannot execute the installer
script. What point did I miss?

Hi Yana,

Here is the code we use :

this.strategyList = new Vector();
this.strategyBox = new JList(this.strategyList);

// Dummy
for (int i=0; i<20; i++)
{
            this.strategyList.add("Elem "+i);
}

this.strategyBox.setVisibleRowCount(6);
this.strategyBox.setSelectionMode(ListSelectionModel.SINGLE_SELECTION);

this.jScrollPane = new JScrollPane();
this.jScrollPane.getViewport().add(this.strategyBox);
this.strategyPanel.add(this.jScrollPane);

strategyPanel init :
private JPanel strategyPanel = new JPanel(new BorderLayout(10, 10));

Thanks

Hi Damien,

I have copied your code and added your jlist to the PluginDialog in the example plugin (net.java.sip.communicator.plugin.exampleplugin) and the items are selectable (see the attached screenshot). So, most probably the problem is somewhere else in the code.

Something you could do is to have a look to the "pluginmanager" plugin. There's a list also. In the GUI you could see it by clicking on Tools/Settings and then selecting "Plug-ins".

Hope this helps.

Yana

Well, if you write the code generically enough and try to put
Windows-specific (filesystem structure, etc) code in separate factorable
functions, and you publish the installer code, one of the rest of us can
add the MacOS and Linux changes when the time comes. Good of you to get
it started.

Hi,

I've found the error, it wasn't in the initialization code. The
problem come with a method which is called a the initialisation by the
system (DocumentListener) and in this method, we disabled the old
combobox. Since we hadn't change the var name, the JList was
automatically disabled.

Sorry for the trouble

Hi,

you can do that by uncommenting some part of the resources/install/build.xml
in the target build-installation-windows, the last part is commented.
Also you need to
install 7zip. Check out the comments in the begining of this build.xml.
