[sip-comm-dev] Package Maintainer: Arch Linux (AUR)

#1

As requested, at the bottom of your 'Download' page, I'm letting you know
that I'm the Arch Linux (AUR) "sip-communicator-nightly" package maintainer.

You might wanna add the following link to that webpage:
http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=32221. Take a look at my package
building script and let me know if there's an easier way.

I've just updated our downloads page.

Thanks Chris!

Hello All

I have two main issues with the sound quality in SC

1 : in debian, incoming sound from a remote peer during a call takes a
long time ( 1 second) to be echoed on the headphones. This is not
happening in windows, where it is almost immediate

2 : Sound has some "cracking" and lack of continuity..its a little hard
to explain, it has some periodic cuts

Has anyone experienced this? Is there any tunning to be done ?

Im running SC against a Asterisk Server
Thanks

Carlos

Hi Carlos,

Are you using the latest of trunk and PortAudio? As it was mentioned here on the dev mailing list, PortAudio tries to address issues with delay and quality. Please note though that we are still working on the media in SIP calls and there are no recent builds with PortAudio support in our Downloads section so running the latest of trunk requires building the source.

Regards,
Lubomir

Hello Lubomir
Thanks for your fast answer

Im glad that portaudio addresses these concerns.

Im not using portaudio now because I tried, it failed, and I receveid this message (see below) from Damencho telling me that the failure was related with a messing library, and that I should wait a few days.

Check out below the message received yesterday, with subject " Re: [sip-comm-dev] Sound Delay with SIP: using portaudio"

Hi,

we are currently stopped building all installators cause we are
currently merging a lot of changes.
I've linked the binary with the missing library (the problem you had)
and I had committed it today in source tree.
We will be back next week with something you can test.

Cheers
damencho
