[sip-comm-dev] Notify Incoming Messages

#1

Hi,

is there a way to make the notification of incoming messages permanent? Currently - in all three modes - a popup appears for a couple of seconds. If away from the desk there is no way to know that someone actually has left a message.

An incoming voice call - under some circumstances - has the Answer/Reject dialog down at the right hand side instead of in the middle of the screen. (could be for Jingle calls- as they signal anything before ringing) Anyone noticed that - or is it my Ubuntu Meerkat only?

Greetings
Conrad

You mean text messages right?

Currently - in all three modes - a popup appears for a
couple of seconds. If away from the desk there is no way to know that
someone actually has left a message.

Your chat window should remain open, and in case the message was
received in a non-active tab, its title should be read.

I am afraid notification popups are only supposed to provide an instant
notification without requiring user intervention and making them
permanent would defeat this purpose.

An incoming voice call - under some circumstances - has the
Answer/Reject dialog down at the right hand side instead of in the

Nah. It is unlikely that Jingle is related. We'll have a look, so please
create an issue, but given that you actually see the dialog and are able
to take/reject the call, it would probably take us a while before we get
there.

Cheers,
Emil

Hi Emil,

... oops - the last time I posted twice by hitting Answer All and now I've only sent it to you. Anyway.

An incoming message opens the chat window and that's more than enough. I was refering to something as there is in Empathy: At least in my Ubuntu
standard theme the letter icon turns yellow if there is a message pending. (though the chat window is much better)

An incoming call is something else: Once the other party hung up the notice disappears without a trace. I'm not sure what is the best way to indicate lost calls - changing the icon, leaving the call window open, putting SC's main window in the foreground to show the call list. What do you think?

Greetings
Conrad

I am CC-ing dev.

We currently indicate missed calls in the contact list window. The
number of missed calls appears in red, right next to the search field.
You can see this on the following screenshot:
