[sip-comm-dev] minimizing memory usage and getting rid of unwanted protocols

#1

hi, this is a pretty straight forward newbie question. i am trying to use sip communicator only as a sip client. the problem is my computer is slow and at times the sip communicator eats up to 80MB of memory while running . also it has many unwanted protocols for me (like msn yahoo jabber etc.).

my question is , is it possible to minimize the memory usage by getting rid of the unwanted protocols? i have tried to delete them from felix.client.run.properties , but they still seem to load and make the program run slower. how do i eliminate the unwatned protocols?

regards,
khan

Hey Khan,

felix.client.run.properties is the right place to look at however you'd
also need to delete the felix profile cache. This is the easiest way to
remove bundles that got installed in one of your previous runs and that
are no longer in the felix.client.run.properties.

Hope this helps

hi, thankyou. yes it helped.

but the program is still running at 60MB memory usage. and i keep getting IOException in read registry.
any idea how to minimize the memory usage or where should i start looking. and the IOexception makes the program take long time to start. what is causing that exception? i do not see any nfo aobut that on the log.

Hi,
the Exception comes from jmf and is not a problem.
What do you mean "the program take long time to start".
If you have any webcam attached to the PC on every start jmf detects the camera modes and it takes some time.
