[sip-comm-dev] issue with SIP account(s): iptel versus sipphone, audio, jabber-otr

#1

Dear All,
besides the current challenges with portaudio (my settings on portaudio:
soundmax audio) I note
currently following issues (nightly build 2317, WinXP SP2):

sipphone/gizmo5 account:
connection to echo@sipphone.com works, however I can only "see" my voice as
increasing bars on
the microphone panel but I am not able to hear myself through the headset
(same happens if
the headset is plugged off). If this should be in this way it is fine with
me (in very
previous versions it was different before the time of portaudio: I could
hear myself as
well)

iptel-account:
I cannot make connection with iptel to echo@iptel.org and also not to
music@iptel.org
error message: "failed"
connection to zrtp@iptel.org is staying in "connecting" mode.
Iptel contacts which are for sure online appear as offline, connection to
iptel itself seems to
be ok.

As I am not a programmer I have now idea if the non-connection to iptel is
connected to
the current issues with portaudio, so sorry if I am reporting on some
ongoing work!

Jabber accounts work fine now (both on gmail and gmx) after complete
reinstallation.

about the previous issue when I receive on my WinXP an OTR-encrypted message
from Adium
(Mac): the popping-up preview window appears "normal", the weird text
(reported on
19.Oct.2009) occurs only in the main message window.

kind regards, MS

looking very much forward for the 1.1 release!

Hi,

just to be sure as you have two accounts after caling through gizmo
account before calling through iptel account did you change the activa
account in "Call Via:" ?

Thanks

Hello Mr Smith,

about the previous issue when I receive on my WinXP an OTR-encrypted
message from Adium
(Mac): the popping-up preview window appears "normal", the weird text
(reported on
19.Oct.2009) occurs only in the main message window.

Back on October you had reported two issues regarding OTR.

1) chatting with other partner who uses Adium+OTR on a Mac, I use
WinXP with SC+OTR (nightly build 2125): the message looks like
this, the popup-window which appears before looks however normal:

This is a problem in Pidgin (http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/8453).

2) German "Umlaute" - adverbs - are not correctly displayed

This should have been fixed in otr4j but I postponed it because I'm
currently evaluating the java-otr library, which was recently released,
to replace or port features to otr4j. Under all circumstance, it will be
fixed by the end of January.

Best,
George

All,

the same for me: I cannot connect to iptel music or echo. For
both destinations I get back a SIP error code 500:

[java] 20:39:58.230 SCHWERWIEGEND: impl.protocol.sip.OperationSetBasicTelephonySipImpl.processResponse().477 Received error: 500 unexpected exception

Is something wrong with the iptel service to play the music?
I worked til end of last year, somehow it stopped working
in the first days of this year ..... hmmmmm .... cannot be a y2k
problem, can't it  .

Regards,
Werner

Yes - I have changed the "call via" in between the calls and also "offlined"
the other account before the call in other trials.
Today same results...

settings:
registrar: iptel.org
author.name: loginname
server port: 5060
proxy: sip.iptel.org
proxy port: 5060
preferred transport: UDP
enable support to encrypt calls: yes
enable presence (SIMPLE): yes
force peer-to-peer: yes
offline contacts polling: 30
default sub.duration: 3600
keep alive method: REGISTER
keep alive interval: 25

2) German "Umlaute" - adverbs - are not correctly displayed

This should have been fixed in otr4j but I postponed it because I'm
currently evaluating the java-otr library, which was recently released,
to replace or port features to otr4j. Under all circumstance, it will be
fixed by the end of January.

Hi Mr. Smith,

This thread is a bit old but I made some progress and thought I should
update it for completeness.

I just finished with otr4j-0.9 which fixes issue 8 (non-"ISO Latin 1"
characters do not display correctly) and issue 1 (enhances
serialization/deserialization).

I'll check in the library in the SC codebase later today, after properly
testing it.

Best,
George

Dear George,
jabber-otr with german "umlaute" works nicely now between two Win-SC versions.

On my WinXP labtop I have now installed VMware virtual machine with Ubuntu 9.10 and the latest SC ubuntu version 2394.

After testing between Win-SC and Ubuntu-SC using jabber-otr it revealed that the German adverbs (incl. some symbols) are not displayed correctly:
ö ü ä @ € µ § .

This includes also the "@" symbol.
