[sip-comm-dev] Help and Idea for GSOC Project

#1

Hi All,
I am interested in two projects: replacing your picture or avatar
from SIP and for streaming a video or a picture instead of webcam. For this
do all the instant messengers supported by SIP use the same protocol?
Where can i get to know about this?

Secondly on the same lines of replacing pictures on all IM's can we have
some system for Global update of all the status messages. Sorry if this
feature is already there because I have not been able to use SIP from our
proxy.

Hi again,
Also considering the problem of having difficulty connecting
via proxy why cant it be a GSOC project to allow users to set proxy
settings. Especially as connections in java can be made through proxy (I
have just tried http connections).

Hi,
Just checked, options for proxy is available for AIM and ICQ but not for
GTalk and Yahoo. Is it currently under development?

I did worked on last summer for adding proxy support in sip communicator.
All protocols except yahoo and msn has been added with proxy support (http,
socks4, socks5). You can checkout the source code in the branch named proxy.
However the same code has not been merged into trunk yet.

BTW, since you are from the same college as mine, proxy server provided by
computer centre does not allow CONNECT method with is a must for using these
protocols behind proxy.
