Hi
I am Ajay Chhatwal, a second year student of Computer Science and
Engineering at Institute of Technology,BHU,India. I am participating
in GSoC for the first time and am very enthusiastic about my project
"Storing History in an Embedded Database ".
First of all,I would like to thank the mentors for choosing me for this project.
My project basically deals with choosing an appropriate embedded
database from the many available open source alternatives and
modifying the history service in SIP communicator to use the embedded
database instead of text files as is done currently.
My mentor is Benoit Pradelle and I wish to know his contact details.
My end semester exams would be beginner soon and would finish by 8th
May. After that i shall be completely free to work on my project.
Any suggestions and advice regarding the project and otherwise would
be appreciated by me.
Regards
Ajay Chhatwal

Hi Ajay,
First of all, congratulations for your selection !
I'm Ben, and I'll be your mentor during this summer. You can reach me
anytime during (my) day time on Windows Live Messenger:
ze_real_neo@hotmail.com or by mail: b.pradelle@gmail.com.
As you know, we're in the community bounding period. Until the 23rd of
May you're supposed to become a part of our (wonderful) community. So
the first step is to register our mailing lists as it is our primary
way of communication. You're strongly encouraged to participate in the
debates on the dev mailing list and to propose patches and opinions.
About your project, as we are in the community bounding period, you're
not supposed to start coding for now and as you'll have some exams
soon it probably wouldn't be a good idea
However you're free to
start investigating the different pros and cons of some DBMS and tell
us your first opinions on them on your spare time.
If you have any question, even if it seems stupid to you, don't
hesitate to post a mail on the corresponding mailing list. If you need
an immediate answer, feel free to contact me directly.
Once again, congratulations Ajay!
Ben
