[sip-comm-dev] [GSoC] Profile Manager

#1

Hi,

I'm happy to announce that my project is complete. I remains only three points :
- check if the profile manager still work with the installers
- allow the user to force the display of the profile manager at the start of SC
- improve the sip-communicator launcher

The installers :
I've a little problem while creating the windows installer. I go to
the directory : resources/install and use the command "ant
build-installation-windows". But the build fail because the target
version doesn't exists. Is it the proper way to generate the window
installer ?

I've another question concerning ant. I want to use the arguments of
the main method. Generally, I use : java Prog arg1 arg2 ... but I
don't know how to do it with ant. Do I need to alter the run target ?

The last point is about the improvement of the launcher. Currently,
there is a hook for the Mac users to set the folder where the
.sip-communicator folder will be created and a test of the JVM. From
my personnal experience, I know that SC don't work with the JVM
installed with Ubuntu (it's called gcj) but it's not detected.

I've attached a little program that get informations of the JVM and
the OS. I've use it with :
- Windows Vista and XP with a sun jvm
- Ubuntu 8.04 with sun jvm and another one with gcj jvm.

I don't know if there is more than one JVM on mac and what's the value
of the system properties. Can someone execute the program and send me
the result ?

Bye

Damien

java.version : 1.5.0_13
java.vendor : Apple Inc.
os.name : Mac OS X
os.version : 10.5.4

Though it's still very young and under development to be of interest,
I'm sending the output for SoyLatte 1.0.2
(http://landonf.bikemonkey.org/static/soylatte/) as well:

java.version : 1.6.0_03-p3
java.vendor : Sun Microsystems Inc.
os.name : Darwin
os.version : 9.4.0

you must invoke that target from the main directory of the project, as the main ant includes those for the
installers. The other thing is that you must config it. Install izpack and download
some installation jre (online for example as it is only 300k). All this you can see as comments in the
resources/install/build.xml ant the file you have to touch is resources/install/installers.properties.
If you still have problems with installers keep asking :))

Thank you the the log and the help for the installer. I'm know able to
create the windows installer but when I install it nothing is done.

The bat start run.exe and the program stop immedialty. It test with
the version on the web site and the program start "correctly" but I
still a the bug with the JVM on my windows vista (it's not really
important).

I've just added a line in the jsmooth file to add my jar in the classpath.

Do you know why ?
