[sip-comm-dev] green SIP presence missing

#1

Hi,

Sometimes on LAN and/or WAN, the green buddy presence circle
does not light up, even if the SIP registrar confirms the
registration. The buddy may still be called or IM'ed even
if buddy is not green.

Is this a known problem?

Regards, Earl

Jabber presence appears correct, only see problem with SIP
presence.

I have posted the issue with the not correct indication of the
presence/abscence/away of the SIP accounts already several times.
So far it has not been solved, indication of jabber accounts are o.k.

I would be also interested if jabber-voice (jingle-protocol) will be
supported by SC.

We'd need Wireshark dumps in order to be able to diagnose and fix such
problems. Could you please send over a few?

Yes. Should be there by the end of February.

Emil

We did some testing here and have some results:

MS started his SC, mine was not started. The presence indication
of MS's SC was grey - correct.

Then I started my SC. Looking at wireshark I saw that my SC sends
SUBCRIBE to MS's SC which answers with NOTIFY and the presence indicator
on my SC of MS's account goes to green. The presence indicator on MS's
SC for my account was still grey.

My assumption here: the SC that started first is happy to answer a
SUBSCRIBE with NOTIFY but does not update the presence status of the
account that sent the SUBSCRIBE and thus the indicator stays grey.
What would be the correct flow here?

Werner

Mr. Smith,

would you please be so kind and do the Wireshark dumps, as it will be
difficult for me to do this.

An incoming SUBSCRIBE does not contain presence information about the
SUBSCRIBER so the fact that you don't see change in status solely based
on this message is normal. We need a NOTIFY in order to do that.

Depending on the mode that we are running presence in, we should be
getting such a notification from either the presence agent, or directly
from the remote party, provided we SUBSCRIBE to its status first.

Our support for presence agents is quite limited at the moment (e.g. we
have no support for resource lists) and my recollections of all the
SIMPLE semantics even more so. I am afraid however that getting SIMPLE
to work properly may require substantial effort.

Anyone interested in this?

Cheers,
Emil

Hi Emil,

I have decided the SIP traces from my LAN SIP registrar are too limited, so I
will install pcap along with WireShark or other. Will investigate this problem
both with LAN registrar and Inet registrar. It is possible that my MilkFish
(OpenSER) registrar in DD-WRT is the problem ???
When I have sufficient, filtered data, I will post again.

Regards, Earl
