[sip-comm-dev] Failed to parse sdp

Hi,
Someone posted this problem into users mailinglist. I replied but realized
that this sort of reply would be more appropriate for dev mailinglist. I
apologize for that.

Here's the message:
I can confirm this on roughly the same setup (Ubuntu 8.04, java6). I
experienced this bug in earlier revisions, then after update it was not
present. From then on I was using version that is using FMJ and this bug is
not present there. I tried running version with JMF now and it gives this
error message again. I will try to investigate this if I will have time
available. On my laptop I have old revision (3630) that is working using
JMF. I will try to diff it to see what might be causing this.

Here is the stack trace of what seems to be causing it:
[java] Cannot open audio device for input:

Hey Martin,

Thanks for resending this to dev.

I also keep having this on linux but this is because i can't get my
microphone to run there. I am thinking that maybe we should improve the
error reporting here as the only way a user can currently see that
there's a problem with the mike is by looking into the logs.

WDYT?

Hi,

as I have the same problem on some Linux setups (seen also on Ubuntu
8.04, Java6). Does anybody know why the audio input device cannot be
opened?

Does FMJ really solve this problem? how do I activate it?

That would be great! We sometimes also have this problems (all working
on Linux). And as you said, a normal user just doesn't know where the
problem is, as long as he doesn't look into the logs...

Hi,
there is version that is using FMJ in branches/fmj. You should give it a go
and see if it works (and of course let me know if it doesn't). I have tested
it with the asterisk test numbers and it works for me.

If you want to solve this for JMF (it is bit of hack really) try what Ken
Larson suggested:
https://sip-communicator.dev.java.net/servlets/ReadMsg?listName=dev&msgNo=3421

Hey all,

I am thinking of hardcoding the hack and running it for Linux users only.

Is anyone aware of a more intelligent way to determine whether we should
be setting buffer length and to what value? (That is other than
os.name.equals("Linux"))

Hi,

I tried to run the FMJ version of SC, but I can't get it running. Is
there anything special to run the FMJ version? I did a rebuild with the
provided ant script and then tried to run it with the ant run command.
Then I get many exceptions of unresolved packages in different bundles.

I would love to give the FMJ version a try, as the JMF version is either
not working on one Linux system or on another (depending on the used
version, see other posts)

Hi,
there is version that is using FMJ in branches/fmj. You should give it a go
and see if it works (and of course let me know if it doesn't). I have tested
it with the asterisk test numbers and it works for me.

If you want to solve this for JMF (it is bit of hack really) try what Ken
Larson suggested:

Hi,

as I have the same problem on some Linux setups (seen also on Ubuntu
8.04, Java6). Does anybody know why the audio input device cannot be
opened?

Does FMJ really solve this problem? how do I activate it?

Hi,
Someone posted this problem into users mailinglist. I replied but

realized

that this sort of reply would be more appropriate for dev mailinglist. I
apologize for that.

Here's the message:
I can confirm this on roughly the same setup (Ubuntu 8.04, java6). I
experienced this bug in earlier revisions, then after update it was not
present. From then on I was using version that is using FMJ and this bug

is

not present there. I tried running version with JMF now and it gives this
error message again. I will try to investigate this if I will have time
available. On my laptop I have old revision (3630) that is working using
JMF. I will try to diff it to see what might be causing this.

Here is the stack trace of what seems to be causing it:
