[sip-comm-dev] Error playing mpeg video files

#1

Hi all, I was trying to develop an rtsp proxy whereby we can use a sip client to get rtsp stream. I implemented the proxy as a SIP AS. The idea is for users to contact the AS and the AS creates an rtsp session on behalf of the user. The server I used to do this is LIVE555 which plays mpg files. So, when i tried to use it I successfully established the SIP and rtsp session and even got the rtp stream. However, I couldn't see the video. I traced through wireshark that a video rtp is comming and also sip-communicator tries to display the video but couoldn't show. A scrambled thing comes on the screen and doesn't change. The audio is properly playing and is audible. What could be the problem or how could i decode my file. The following is the ffmpeg output of the video file:

zelalem@zelalem-pc2:/opt/live/mediaServer$ ffmpeg -i test.mpg

FFmpeg version 0.5, Copyright (c) 2000-2009 Fabrice Bellard, et al.

  configuration: --enable-gpl --enable-libgsm --enable-libxvid --enable-libmp3lame --enable-libvorbis --enable-libfaac --enable-libfaad --enable-shared

  libavutil 49.15. 0 / 49.15. 0

  libavcodec 52.20. 0 / 52.20. 0

  libavformat 52.31. 0 / 52.31. 0

  libavdevice 52. 1. 0 / 52. 1. 0

  built on Aug 28 2009 15:40:58, gcc: 3.4.6

Input #0, mpeg, from 'test.mpg':

  Duration: 00:00:21.55, start: 0.500000, bitrate: 422 kb/s

    Stream #0.0[0x1e0]: Video: mpeg1video, yuv420p, 610x340 [PAR 1:1 DAR 61:34], 104857 kb/s, 25 tbr, 90k tbn, 25 tbc

    Stream #0.1[0x1c0]: Audio: mp2, 44100 Hz, stereo, s16, 64 kb/s

At least one output file must be specified

Thank you.

I am not sure MPEG1 video can be decoded by SIP Communicator. SIP Communicator support H264 well, can you try with an H264 video ?

Hi

Sebastien, thank you for your prompt response. The reason why I used mpeg video is b/c it is listed in the sip-communicator's video codec list and b/c the server (live555) can only play .mpg, .m4e and .ts files). I don't think I can contain h264 coded content into mpg file. That is the reason. What do you advice me to do?

Thank you again for the support.

Best regards,
