Here's a little summary and status report of two problems I reported with SIP-Communicator on Ubuntu Karmic.
1. Incoming sound is not heard until about 10 seconds after the start of the call. Also requires about 10 seconds to terminate a call. Last verified with version 1.0-alpha3-nightly.build.2466, on two computers with sun-java6-jre and openjdk-6-jre.
Log and other data posted here: https://sip-communicator.dev.java.net/servlets/ReadMsg?list=dev&msgNo=8121
and here: https://sip-communicator.dev.java.net/servlets/ReadMsg?list=dev&msgNo=8114 .
2. Program often takes 2 attempts to start the UI. Java shows in the System Monitor, but the UI doesn't show on the first attempt. The problem may be related to the Java version. The problem occurs on one computer with sun-java6-jre but not on the other computer with openjdk-6-jre.
There doesn't seem to be any interest in following up on either problem. That's understandable, because the title of the thread is not very descriptive and the problems were lumped together in a fragmented thread with some other problems that were either solved or were not bugs.
However, my very full in box is hard to manage on this crummy, disposable e-mail account, so I have unsubscribed from the list and I won't be monitoring it. If you need to contact me for further information, please contact me directly by e-mail. Thanks, and good luck with the program.
