[sip-comm-dev] Converting our CVS to SVN

#1

Hi all,

I've already mentioned previously that we are planning on converting our
java.net repository from CVS to SVN.

I've just received a mail from CollabNet confirming that they are all
set and ready to go, and we could choose from one of three dates:

Friday, 31 Aug 2007 05:30 am CET
Monday, 03 Sep 2007 05:30 am CET
Wednesday, 05 Sep 2007 05:30 am CET

The transition should take between 1 and 3 hours and during this time
the repository would be inaccessible.

What this means is basically that you'd have to commit all changes in
your sandbox before the transition date and be able to continue by
retrieving the whole project from the new repository after that.
Anything you don't commit would have to be manually reinserted in the
new SVN tree (which is not that much of a big deal so there's no need to
panic  ).

I thought that doing this Friday morning may be a bit early so the
second date (Monday 3d, 5:30 am CET) seemed like the best option to me.

Is this ok for everyone?

Emil

Hi,

The date doesn't matters to me. I agree with the date which is comfortable for the others.

Hi Emil,

I'm not in the Top 10 of S-C Commiters, but Monday 3d, 5:30 am CET is fine with me

Hi Emil,

I agree that Friday is a bit early, because I have some things to finish and commit, but Monday 3d is absolutely ok for me.

OK then, I've confirmed to Collabnet that Monday would be the day.

Let's hope that everything goes as smoothly.

Hey all,

It seems like migration is over on the java.net repository. We now have
to take care of some minor details:

1. Reconfigure CruiseControl builds to use SVN
2. Change corresponding parts in the "Retrieving and building the
sources" page in the Developer Documentation.
3. Update the "More on Using CVS" page in the Developer Documentation.
(should be more on Using SVN)
4. Update the Eclipse tutorial (will need new screenshots).
5. Update the Netbeans tutorial.
6. Anything else that I am missing?

In case anyone has any trouble with the new repository - don't hesitate
to share them on the mailing list.

Hi Emil,

6. Anything else that I am missing?

7. Update the packages builders to checkout their sources from the SVN.

At the moment the MacOSX packet generator on visionet does not have subversion. May I ask Guillaume to install svn on it? (Nice packages with ssl support are available on http://metissian.com/projects/macosx/subversion/)

Thanks Guillaume

Hey,

I've redirected CruiseControl today and tried to fix as many CVS site
references as possible.

I think the only thing left is Netbeans. Unless there are other
volunteers I'll try to do this one day (soon hopefully).

Hi, Emil.

I've been busy on other projects and so haven't tried to keep up with all the recent CVS-based activity. I will convert my netbeans project to SVN in the next week and use the experience to update the wiki. I hope everyone will be happy to wait that long?

You can include this in the wiki when you correct it

Thanks, Damian,

I noticed your SVN commit about 1 week ago and had wondered whether you had brought the netbeans support up to date completely.

I seem to be making a lot of apologies these days, but here is another one! I had a bad week and didn't find time to start rebuilding SipComm. I was waiting to hear whether anyone else had tried your fix successfully.

How are you getting on with netbeans debugging of SC? Are there any issues preventing you from using it the way you want?

I will try to get round to doing the work this week, and will check the wiki is up to date once I have netbeans and SC working together.

Brian
