[sip-comm-dev] Closing the main window should not exit the application

#1

Hello Devs,

Do you think it's a good idea if we make closing the main window just hide the application in systray but not terminate it? We could popup a dialog box explaining the action with a checkbox "Don't show this message again".

Thanks,

Hello Pavel, Richard,

I absolutely agree and this is actually the way it is previewed to be. The thing is that the systray bundle that is currently in SIP Communicator is actually nothing more but a stub. The actual work on full systray support (i.e. popup message notifications, possibility to change status for all protocols, possibility to exit the application and all sorts of things) is being done by Nicolas Chamouard from Louis Pasteur University.

Last time I checked he had made some pretty good progress so I think (Nicolas, correct me if I am wrong) we'd be able to soon integrate his work in SIP Communicator.

Cheers
Emil

Hello,

I continue to work on the plugin, and it should be usable soon.
Concercing the specific feature you were speaking, I think it has to
be done in the GUI implementation but Yana may correct me.

Hey Nicolas,

Sure, the fact not exit in itself would have to be implemented in the
UI. But if we do this we'd have to have an exit menu in the systray,
as well as the possibility to show a tooltip explaining to the user
how to close the application, (and as Pavel Suggested: a checkbox
saying "Don't show this message again").

Cheers
