[sip-comm-dev] Chat with no-ASCII characters bug

#1

Hi devs,

While arguing on French translation with Sébastien. I was surprised, because no accent characters were tipped on the chat dialog. After 5 minutes, I realized that the cause of this bug was the font used for tipping my text. Indeed, the "Bitstream Charter" is not able to display the accent character, whereas the "Serif" can do it perfectly.

I have not tested if other fonts work well and I do not have the time to search/correct this bug for the moment. Maybe someone else is interested in doing some investigations for this?

Cheers,
Vincent

Hey Vincent,

I think Yana has recently added to the chat window a possibility for
users to change the font by themselves. I don't remember how things were
before but right now I don't have a problem writing Cyrillic characters
in there. Does that change anything for you?

Hi Emil,

I have just checked and tried the build 1210. This bug has vanished, as well as the possibility to choose the font encoding. As everything is working now for accent characters, we can close this issue

Thank you for your help,
Vincent

Re-hi Emil,

Your patch "Wrapping the jfontchooser lib into a bundle." re-activate the font chooser. Finally, the build 1212 works fine (man can choose fonts and use accent characters) for svn and .deb build.
