[sip-comm-dev] Audio

#1

Hy at all

If I use in the configuration "Java Audio" I have the following problem: The quality of the first call is ok and I have no delay. But after the second call the quality is bad e.g. it comes to a hold. If I switch to "Port Audio" this problem does not arise.
My question now: what is the difference between "Java Audio" and "Port Audio"?

Kind regards
Markus Zeiter

Hi Markus,

As we're actively working on the media support, please state the following:

- the version of SIP Communicator which triggers the described issue.
If you're running a distribution from our Downloads section, this
should be the build number. If you're building from source, this
should be the revision number.

- the operating system on which you're testing SIP Communicator and it
exhibits the described issue

My question now: what is the difference between "Java Audio" and "Port Audio"?

It's difficult for me to summarize "the difference" because these two
are pretty much completely different audio capture and playback
systems with JavaSound being part of the JRE and PortAudio being made
available in SIP Communicator by wrapping the native PortAudio
library.

Regards,
Lubomir
