Hello all,
I have mentioned some time ago that we are experiencing problems with
the new download.java.net server:
Here's the thread
https://sip-communicator.dev.java.net/servlets/BrowseList?list=dev&by=thread&from=885986
According to the replies I received from Sun, it appears that it won't
be possible to make things better on download.java.net so we've decided
to look for another place to store our downloads.
I am very pleased to announce that the team from the Centre Rseau et
Communication (Network and Communication Center) at the Louis Pasteur
University have graciously accepted to host our downloads. The
communications center has excellent connectivity in both IPv4 and IPv6
so this is a great opportunity.
The machine that has been made available to us is now reachable at
download.sip-communicator.org (right now in IPv4 only but IPv6 should be
coming soon).
I've tried to update all package building scripts and make them upload
to the new location but it would be nice if package maintainers could
also have a look and make sure that everything is working as expected.
Incidentally, I imagine that most people using our debian repository
don't bother going to the download site that often so they might ignore
the migration. Is anyone aware of a way to make apt-get alert the user
that the repository has been moved elsewhere instead of simply blurting
out an error message?
Cheers
Emil
