[sip-comm-dev] Arabic support to sip-communicator

#1

Hello All,

I have been following this message list for years .. I have seen lately some posts about adding support for other languages ... so I thought that I can contribute by adding Arabic support. I have added a translated Arabic version in each sub folder of the i18n.zip (see the attaached modified version).

I have tried to recompile sip-communicator using eclipse (ant) .. and see what happens .. but it seems that my eclipse does not see the JarBundler (I copied its jar to the project folder and added it to the classpath... not working yet). Will check it later. I tried the DMG target since am working on OS X... is that right ??

The following message .. net.sourceforge.jarbundler.JarBundler cannot be found

Does it mean that I have to create net.sourceforge.jarbundler folder and add the jar in it ??

Thanks in advance

Amer

i18n_with_arabic_support.zip (39.9 KB)

Before adding it to the repository, there's just a minor thing I'd like to clarify: in the archive that you provided, there are more than resources_ar.properties files (sometime resources_de, resources_bg.properties also appear). Did you make any change in them? Or Shall I just take the resources_ar ones?

I have tried to recompile sip-communicator using eclipse (ant) .. and see what happens .. but it seems that my eclipse does not see the JarBundler (I copied its jar to the project folder and added it to the classpath... not working yet). Actually you have to install the jarbundler jar. You can get it from here:
http://informagen.com/JarBundler/

then you need to copy it in /Developer/Java/Ant/lib

Hello Romain,

Thank you for your reply. There is no need to copy all files since I did not change any existing file. Only those with "..._ar.properties" should be copied so as to avoid any disturbance to the existng ones. I sent them all just to show their position with respect to other files and directories.

Thanks

Amer

Actually it seems that i18n resources.properties management changed a bit recently, so I cannot commit the files as they are now. Futhermore, some discussions on the file format are still ongoing (maybe you saw some mail about this today), so now may not be the best time to modify your translation to the current format.

I'd propose you to postpone a bit the integration of your translation, once we have fixed the i18n resources.properties file format. At that time, if you're willing to contribute a new version of your translation, we'll be very happy to commit it. Otherwise we'll try to find some time to modify the version you already sent to us.

Cheers,

Hi Romain,

Yes .. no need to rush. I agree totally with the idea abut the flaw with the properties files. There is a place for more optimization to be done.

Hello Amer,

The changes that Romain referred to in his mail have finally been made.
If you have enough spare time to update your Arabic translation we'd
love to have it again so that we could integrate it in the 1.0 branch.

Apologies for the delay!

Cheers
Emil

Hi Amer,

Actually I have started the modifications, but I have not yet committed the language resources. I think I'll be ready at the end of the weekend, so just a little more patience:) I'll let you know when they are ready.

Cheers,
