[sip-comm-dev] an email application for SIP Communicator.

#1

Hello,

i want to commit myself in writing an email application, for SIP
Communicator which will allow a functionality of reading an email when the
user will recieve any email in users inbox. this will done as when any
notification pops in it will be showing a link "READ" when the user clicks
it the particular email will be opened from his/her inbox in that window.
this feature will be followed by the facility if the user wants to reply to
that email, whose option will also be provided, when the user chooses to
reply it will open an email editor allowing him/her with all the facilities
of any standard email client (i.e. text editor, attachments, Carbon Copy,
Blind Carboon Copy, From, To. ).

the user will also be facilitated if he/she wants to compose the email
directly (means without replying to any recieved email). the usercan do this
by clicking on the button present on the toolbar (which will be provided
after wards) or by choosing an option of "Compose an email", in the File
menu bar. this will again open a standard email editor.

what do you think....?

Thank You.

I think such an app could be even more useful if it shared the stored
messages with any other Mail User Agent on the same host for that same
user, but SIP Communicator just maintained its own metadata/index of how
those messages were used within SIP Communicator. Instead of multiple,
redundant message stores, that can get out of sync. SIP Communicator
might even simply present a minimal UI (like inbox alerts) to direct a
user over to the main, dedicated MUA, especially for composing and
sending messages, so the main MUA has all the messages' status in its
main metadata/index.

Hey Zunair,

I like the part about the notifications. We've actually had this in mind
for a while now. Could be particularly handy when your IM provider is
also handling your mail (like for example Yahoo!, Google, and MSN do).
In such cases it would definitely be nice to receive instant
notifications that mail is available in your inbox, waiting to be read.

Anything more than a notification and a link however (i.e., reading,
replying to and composing new messages) is not on our roadmap at this
point of time.

Hope this answers your question
Cheers
Emil
