[sip-comm-dev] Advertising about SIP Communicator

#1

Hello all,

I remember some posts here on dev regarding to the advertisement
that is done about SIP Communicator, stating that it is relatively poor.

So, here are some ideas:

- RSS feed of the news:
I recently missed some news on the homepage,
and I thought wouldn't it be great if I could have SIP Communicator news
into my RSS aggregator? This could be easily done by adding
an XML file on the website with the news into it, and then most of the
web browsers will offer the opportunity to subscribe to the news (I can offer an XML file).
WDYT?

- Tweets:
Emil pointed me out that we could use the Twitter service. WDYT?

- Facebook/Twitter:
There is already a SIP Communicator group on Facebook. Also,
I know it's possible to mix a Twitter account with a Facebook account, so if one post
a news on Twitter, it will be automatically posted on Facebook.

Regards,
Valentin

+1 for RSS, Twitter and Facebook.

And since we are an OSS project, we might want to reach to even more
OSS fellows who, for example, choose Identi.ca over Twitter.

Sounds great. I've setup an account for us at twitter (jitsinews). Let
me know if you'd like to take care of the facebook integration and I'll
give you the credentials.

+1 again. We now have "jitsi" there. Wonder if there's possible
integration with facebook and twitter there so that we would only need
to post news once.

Hi Lubomir, Emil,

Sorry, I forget about it. After having had a quick look at it, we apparently just have
to give to feedburner the link pointing to XML file I mentioned earlier. Then you'll be
able to access the feed statistics (if that was the goal of using the feed burner service?).

Sure!

Seems to be the case. Just posted on identi.ca and it has been broadcast to both of
my Twitter and Facebook accounts.

I was actually wondering if there's something that would easily turn our
news into an XML. But that seems to be alright now. Read on

I've managed to connect identi.ca/jitsi and make it push to
twitter.com/jitsinews. I still can't find a way to make it update our
"SIP Communicator" group page on google though (which will obviously one
day be renamed to Jitsi too).

Cheers,
Emil

It seems that updates via Twitter or Identi.ca (or any other service)
are working for Facebook "Pages" (or "Fan pages"). The "SIP Communicator" group page
is in factnot a "page", but rather a "group", and Twitter/Identi.ca updates arenot working
for "group".The solution would be to create a Jitsi fan page (not group) onFacebook, and then
to activate updates via any micro-blogging service.

Hi,

I made a patch for Jingle Nodes Support, so it can search Nodes in the
background without any synchronization.

Just update the jnsapi.jar file to
http://jinglenodes.googlecode.com/files/jnsapi-0.0.4.jar

And apply the following Diff:

We are actually already doing asynchronous discovery in SC.

Is there anything in the new version that makes discovery go faster?
