[sip-comm-dev] Add/create account

#1

Gentlemen,
I am not sure addressing the correct group here, but I have an issue with the SIP Communicator. I am using SIP Communicator 1.0-alpha3-nightly.build.2409 on Snow Leopard.
If I want to add an new account I get the following error:
"We failed to create your account due to the following error: kirz@sip.sparvoip.de appears to be an either invalid or inaccessible address."
Actually my username IS walter@kirz. and (sip.)sparvoip.de is my provider. It is working with a hardware phone and Bria X-Lite without any problems.
I have another account (walter@sms) giving an other error message:
"We failed to create your account due to the following error: Could not create a SIP URI for user walter@sms@sip.smsaccount.com and registrar sms@sip.smsaccount.com"

Here the error messages from the log:
11:54:09.488 SEVERE: impl.protocol.sip.ProtocolProviderServiceSipImpl.initOutboundProxy().1679 kirz@sip.sparvoip.de appears to be an either invalid or inaccessible address.
11:56:30.196 WARNING: plugin.sipaccregwizz.SIPAccountRegistrationWizard.installAccount().397 Could not create a SIP URI for user walter@sms@sip.smsaccount.com and registrar sms@sip.smsaccount.com

Do you want me to publish the full logs here?

I know the error is coming from the 'at' in my username. But that was the way I registered the accounts.

I have some more minor issues. Should I post them here or do you have a bug reporting system?

Kind regards and thank you for your attention

Walter

The SIP Communicator issue tracker is accessible through
http://www.sip-communicator.org/index.php/Development/BugsAndIssues.
The page in questions states though: Please, make sure that before you
submit, or modify issues on our issues tracker you discuss them on our
dev mailing list. Thanks a million!

You've come to the right place

I am using SIP Communicator 1.0-alpha3-nightly.build.2409 on Snow
Leopard. If I want to add an new account I get the following error:
"We failed to create your account due to the following error:
kirz@sip.sparvoip.de appears to be an either invalid or inaccessible
address." Actually my username IS walter@kirz. and (sip.)sparvoip.de
is my provider. It is working with a hardware phone and Bria X-Lite
without any problems. I have another account (walter@sms) giving an
other error message: "We failed to create your account due to the
following error: Could not create a SIP URI for user
walter@sms@sip.smsaccount.com and registrar sms@sip.smsaccount.com"

In order to simplify configuration, SIP Communicator allows users to
create accounts with only their SIP uri and password. It then assumes
that the user part of the uri is their user name and that whatever comes
after the @ sign is the registrar and SIP proxy.

The assumption is obviously not verified in your case so after you open
the "New Account" wizard and select SIP, you need to click on the
Advanced button. In there fill in your SIP uri (and that's neither of
the above strings so you need to determine what it is) and password.
Then go to the advanced tab and fill in your walter@sms or walter@kirz
user names in the "Authorization name" field.

Hope this helps,
Emil

Emil,
thank you for your fast reply. I have not seen the advanced-button! Even the Authorization name is there. Great! So it will work in our Cisco environment as well.

Good work everybody. Thank you so much.

Kind regards

Walter
