[sip-comm-dev] About GSOC ideas: filter graph for FMJ and support for DTMF

Hi,

I am interested in both the ideas of implementing support for DTMF and
filter graph for FMJ in SC. I have some points to clarify regarding both the
ideas before selecting one to proceed further. So I would be very much
thankful if you can help in getting them cleared.

1. Filter graph implementation for FMJ.
    According to what I understood from the description in the idea page..,
there seems to be two objectives regarding this idea.
    i). Design and implement a filter graph for achieving media handling
functionalities in SC with FMJ (which is now achieved with JMF).
    ii) optimize the filter graph construction algorithm in FMJ itself.
    Is it only one of the above that is the aim of this project idea, or
both of those? (I am much inteested if it is the first one because then it
would be a direct contribution to SC)

2. Support for DTMF.
    when searching and thinking about the requirements to be fulfilled under
this idea, what came to mind are following:
    i). send DTMF packets and detect DTMF events received in a SIP session.
    ii).give the user the option(in GUI) to select which DTMF mode to be
used (i.e. SIP INFO which is already implemented or DTMF) in the current
session.
    iii). declare DTMF support in SDP and negotiate it in the offer/answer
process.
, could you please tell me whether something is missing/not needed/optional
or already implemented regarding SC?

Hi,

I submitted my application for GSoC on 31st of March, for the project idea
support for DTMF with RTP. And I would be very much thankful if the mentors
could give feed back on it for me to refine it and provide any more details
you wish to have on it.
Actually I did not inform it any earlier than this because I thought it
would not be necessary. But since I did not get any feed back yet, I was bit
anxious whether my application was received properly. Therefore I thought of
writing to you all and also I apologize if any inconvenience happened due to
notifying this here.
