Prosody reload doesn't see new bridges

#1

Hi,
I am testing adding multiple video bridges in prosody domain config file. However, each time I add new bridge and use prosodyctl reload,

Prosody doesn’t see the bridge at all and don’t allow it to connect and authenticate. But if I restart prosody the bridge component connect successfully.

I don’t think I can restart prosody each time I add new bridge as that will result in all the current conferences will disconnect as well.

Any suggestion how to add the bridges without restart?

Thank you for your help.

#2

it seems copying the password from windows to ssh console was the issue. In case someone else have the same issue. You should type the password for each video bridge component.

Thank you

#3

You can configure bridges to be discovered from a muc. This way you don’t need to reload/restart prosody to add new components.

#4

Thank you Damencho, Do you have more details how to do that?

#5

Hi damencho,

Please let me know if you can help on how to do the MUC bridge discovery instead of reloading the prosody config every time I add new one.

Thank you

#6

Check this out How to add the secondary jvb to main jitsi-server

#7

Thank you, I have read this long thread but I confused about this config is that will be placed in the jvb config or sip-communicator?
also what is the jvb2 in org.jitsi.videobridge.xmpp.user.jvb2?
and what is the username and password should be? is it for the muc component?

org.jitsi.videobridge.xmpp.user.jvb2.HOSTNAME=xmpp-server-ip-address
org.jitsi.videobridge.xmpp.user.jvb2.DOMAIN=auth.jitmeet.example.com
org.jitsi.videobridge.xmpp.user.jvb2.USERNAME=jvb
org.jitsi.videobridge.xmpp.user.jvb2.PASSWORD=some_pass
org.jitsi.videobridge.xmpp.user.jvb2.MUC_JIDS=JvbRoom@internal.jitmeet.example.com
org.jitsi.videobridge.xmpp.user.jvb2.MUC=JvbRoom@internal.jitmeet.example.com
org.jitsi.videobridge.xmpp.user.jvb2.MUC_NICKNAME=jvb-2
org.jitsi.videobridge.xmpp.user.jvb2.DISABLE_CERTIFICATE_VERIFICATION=true

#8

The thread describes octo configuration and for that you need a bridge to connect to multiple prosody servers.
You need to create a user/password that all your bridges will use to connect to the protected virtual host you will configure for the bridges(auth.jitmeet.example.com).

#9

ok, and why jvb2 is in the namespace?
and is these settings should be in the sip-communictor… or config for the bridge?

#10

Any Idea why my bridge after applying this settings still error out in prosody:
jvb2.jvb.mydomain.com does not match any configured external components

it seems it is still trying to connect to a component.

Please let m know thank you

#11

Those settings are for sip-communicator.properties, to disable component you need to remove xmpp from the enabled apis in the config.

#12

Thanks damencho, I have done that and now things are a lot better. but not fully working yet. it seems Jicofo can’t join the room or only can join as participant not an admin. and no call can be established as jicofo still can’t see the video bridges available. I don’t know where to go from here any help much appreciated Thank you.

Here is XMPP client I use to debug with

Hi damencho, Please let me know if you can take a look at this issue and let me know a solution. I am stuck on that.

Thank you

#14

Pretty busy right now, I have it in my todo to take a look. Can you try updating to latest from unstable and try again and report do you see the same?

#15

Thank you so much for letting me know. take your time.

You mean unstable JVB, or Jicofo?

#16

Latest of everything. There were some fixes about joining the control room and it affects everything I think …

#17

I have update from unstable I still have the same issue. It seems Jicofo has some issue joining he muc with the video bridges, authentication issues. The bridges and prosody seems ok from the log. I also still see jicofo joining the MUC as participant not an owner not sure if this is by design.

Please take a look and let me know. thank you for your help.

Just to mention I am not doing octo for now. That should be the basic setup as before Octo released.

#19

I think I got it to work, I have done update from latest unstable. and then there was some settings still hanging in there from the pubsub model removed all of that from the VBs and and Jicofo. Now all seems to work.

Thank you Damencho for helping on that.

Glad it is working. We will update stable on the next meet.jit.si release.
Our docker setup uses mucs by default so you can get inspired from those configs:
