Participants do not see lobby display name when entering

Bonjour,
I installed the latest stable Jitsi meet and updated prosody to activate the lobby feature.

When a participant asks to join, its selected name appears on Moderator screen but when it is accespted to join, the new participant appears with the DEFAULT_REMOTE_DISPLAY_NAME instead of the name he created.

If the participant logs in another room, with another name, the new name appears on Moderator screen but when its accepted, the previously created name appears instead of the newly created one and not the DEFAULT_REMOTE_DISPLAY_NAME anymore.

Could it be a cookie error ?

Thank you for your help

*Installed on january 15th following this guide: Ubuntu / Debian installations instructions - Jitsi

I’m sorry, but that guide is outdated. Use his one instead:

(I am afraid you have to start from scratch)

Argh I reinstalled (twice because of a bug) and still the same bug!

What could I have missed?

If your distro is Debian 10 Buster or Ubuntu 20.04 or newer, no need to upgrade prosody

Can you reproduce the same issue on https://meet.jit.si?

Bonjour,

There is no issue for me on meet.jit.si

Now I installed on Ubuntu 18.04 can this be related? I guess I will have to give it a test…

Thanks for your help!

Bonjour,
I got an answer on Participants do not see lobby display name when entering · Issue #8415 · jitsi/jitsi-meet · GitHub

A quick fix is to enable prejoinPageEnabled: true .
