Overheads of polling JVB transit-stats

In this post, it was suggested that packet transit time (/debug/stats/jvb/transit-stats) is a good indicator of QoS.

While skimming the docs for /debug endpoints, I noted the warning:

With a few exceptions, these are NOT intended to be used against production systems.

Would polling /debug/stats/jvb/transit-stats for monitoring purposes, say every 10s, have adverse effects on the operation of JVB? Or is transit-stats one of the exceptions?
