[nist-sip] sip-communicator with OSX?

#1

Hello Adam,

AFAIK JMF (and the sip-communicator for that matter) (only) support audio on Mac. I've never really tried it though so it'd be nice if you could drop us a note if you get any further

Cheers
Emil

Hello- Yes, my apologies. I've had trouble getting any responses on the sip-communicator list and they have that big warning on their site that reads "we will be unable to provide any support on the existing version as we are all concentrating on the new release", so I'm just fishing about for knowledge.

Open protocols combined with open source offers the fantastic possibility of answering most of your own questions without too much trouble, though, so it should be fine.

Thanks very much.

Hello all!

It appears there's a lot of discussion about sip-communicator. I dont mind and Emil watches here when he can but perhaps you can get better help by posting to the sip-communicator users forum on java.net

Has anyone gotten sip communicator working with OSX? It looks to me like the Java Media Framework piece doesn't actually work as it needs to on OSX, but I'm not sure. Just wondering if anyone else has a had success with it -- getting just a voice dialog going between 2 UAs. If so, any particular tweaks you had to make?

Thanks.

Thanks Emil-

I've gotten it working in both directions in my testing, although only I've only gotten one direction to work at any one time (one transmitter and one receiver). I may eventually fiddle with using the Java QuickTime API to tap into the native RTP processing, but that will be on the back burner for awhile. Henning Shulzrinne has reported that only the Linux and Windows versions of the JMF work, but that may have been for an earlier version.

For anyone who is interested in the QuickTime stuff on OSX, check out:

Thanks again.
