Need help on installation

Hi,

I’ve set up jitsi-meet on Ubuntu Server 19.10. It runs on a VM with 12 cores and 16 GB RAM.
The firewall (Sophos UTM) is configured to forward port 80, 443 and 10.000 UDP.

I have Packet-Drops about 5 - 15%. It doesn’t run smooth.

Here is, what jvb-log says:

I think, there are some things not correct, for example:

2020-04-20 10:23:18.129 WARNUNG: [22] [hostname=localhost id=shard] MucClient.lambda$getConnectAndLoginCallable$7#643: [MucClient id=shard hostname=localhost] error connecting

But how can I change this?

Thanks for your help.

BA-Baracus

First use Ubuntu 18.04
Ubuntu xx.10 are not considered concretely stable releases, and LTS (Long Term Support) are released every 2 years, so next stable will be the new 20.04

Avoid using potentially incompatible releases.

Thanks for your answer,
I’m installing it again with 18.04 now.
Hope this works for me.

So, I’ve now set up an Ubunutu-Server 18.04

The Problem is still there. It begins, when more than 2 people ar in with video. The network-symbol turns from green to yellow and then to red. Video and audio is stuttering.

I followed these steps to install:
https://github.com/jitsi/jitsi-meet/blob/master/doc/quick-install.md

The etc/hosts:

127.0.0.1 localhost video.MyDomain.de
127.0.1.1 video.MyDomain.de

a big question, did you rebooted your server after editing:

/etc/hosts
/etc/hostname

Yes. Rebooted several times.

/etc/hostname:
video.MyDomain.de

Is the connection slow because of the muc-client not connected?
2020-04-21 07:58:54.121 WARNING: [22] [hostname=localhost id=shard] MucClient.lambda$getConnectAndLoginCallable$7#643: [MucClient id=shard hostname=localhost] error connecting

Is this correct (hostname=localhost) or must hostname be my servers FQDN?

I think that you have installed jitsi before rebooting.
You should reboot after changing hostname and before intall jitsi

Uninstall jitsi and do the installation again

Okay. I will try this.

Okay.

Something has changed:

Can it be, that the config-files can’t be read from jitsi?

Okay, I found something in an other thread about the SEVERE
I cleaned some files in prosody, like in this thread: link

My new installation has this in jvb.log:

2020-04-22 18:03:18.949 WARNING: [30] [hostname=localhost id=shard] MucClient.lambda$getConnectAndLoginCallable$7#643: [MucClient id=shard hostname=localhost] error connecting
org.jivesoftware.smack.SmackException$ConnectionException: The following addresses failed: ‘localhost:5222’ failed because: localhost/127.0.0.1 exception: java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused (Connection refused)

Maybe this helps, from jicofo.log:

Jicofo 2020-04-22 18:03:21.853 WARNING: [20] org.jitsi.jicofo.FocusManager.log() No dedicated JVB MUC XMPP connection configured - falling back to the default XMPP connection

I’ve installed it again, and everytime running in the same error with port 5222.

That is very frustrating. I need this platform for my company and don’t know, how to get it running.

Check that your prosody is reading the configuration for your site.
I had an issue where it wasn’t.

Also I’ve being working on a project that may help you get it up and running in no time:
