Microphone intermittently stops working during calls

When I start a call I am prompted to allow access to camera and microphone and everything works fine. Other participants can hear me great. Then at some point it stops working and no one can hear me. The mic icon is still white (and I can toggle it back and forth), but no one can hear me. The sound meter bar stops working too, so I can visually see when no one can hear me. Then after some time, a minute or two, it starts working again and the sound meter is active. Then it stops again. This does not happen in Zoom or Google Meet. I am on a WIndows 10 device that generally works really well. My wifi connection is ok, not great but not too bad either. Any advice?
